Current Positions

As our Production Assistant – you will be responsible for assisting the Lead Operators and Production Team in day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively provide assistance to several people and departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines while effectively communicating with managers and co-workers.

YOUR CHALLENGES

Operations

  • Operational assistance; will be called upon to assist with the feeding, tailing and preparation of all lines when required
  • May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.

General Maintenance

  • Keep the production floor, warehouse, lunch/meeting room areas clean and safe at all times by performing general housekeeping as required, including equipment maintenance and sanitizing, sweeping, mopping and waste disposal; sort bundle and package waste items for scrap or recycling
  • General yard maintenance such as weed trimming, pick up of waste around building and entrances

Kindling Program

  • In charge of cutting, sorting, bagging and palletizing of wood off-cuts for kindling program

Shipping + Handling

  • Assist in the preparation, stacking, sorting of and wrapping/bundling of completed projects
  • Assist in the organization, preparation, and fulfilment of Sample Kits

YOUR PROFILE

  • Grade 12 High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous industrial experience, preferably in a Sawmill or Wood Shop considered an asset

YOUR ASSETS + SKILLS

  • Ability to work as part of a team, to communicate with all levels of the organization and to adapt quickly to change
  • Health & Safety conscious
  • Forklift training and experience would be considered an asset – Good mechanical and operational aptitude
  • Able to carry out the physically demanding requirements of the job
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during long shifts
  • Use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move materials around the production floor
  • Must be willing to work all shifts, including weekends and/or overtime, as required to meet deadlines
  • Solid computer skills an asset

COMPENSATION

Pay levels are set according to your experience and skill levels. Hourly wage levels are very competitive and kept up to date with the local market. Standard pay for Production Assistant positions are $16-18/hr.

The multidisciplinary role of Delivery Driver / Shipping + Logistics Specialist will be responsible for assisting the Production Team in receiving and documenting inbound deliveries as well as delivering completed projects to their final destination in the field. Transportation will be supplied. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively provide assistance to several people and departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines while effectively communicating with managers, co-workers and clients when on delivery.

  • Trucking and transportation experience (eg: truck+trailer, flat deck) is required.
  • Forklift experience is required.
  • G-class licence and Drivers Abstract is required
  • AZ/DZ-class is considered an asset

YOUR CHALLENGES

Scheduling, Logistics + Warehouse Management

  • Schedule and coordinate deliveries in conjunction with production team
  • Picking orders, rotating & organizing stock in warehouse and production floor as required
  • Complete any necessary paperwork accurately
  • Preparing and loading material in a timely manner so as to meet delivery deadlines and customer commitments
  • Preparing pertinent documentation for shipment of goods
  • Receiving all incoming shipments and authorizing for correctness of the product received

Deliveries

  • Deliver completed projects as well as picking up raw lumber from supplied mainly in Grey & Bruce Counties and Muskoka, with potential deliveries in Southwest Ontario and the GTA
  • Load and unload products to be delivered where required
  • Collect payment or get signatures for proof of delivery
  • Ensure all items being delivered remain intact during transport and delivery

Shipping + Receiving

  • Assist in the preparation, stacking, sorting of and wrapping/bundling of completed projects
  • Assist in the organization, preparation, and fulfilment of Sample Kits

Vehicle Maintenance

  • Inspect the delivery vehicles regularly
  • Ensure departmental vehicles are in good working order
  • Add fuel and maintain detailed records of fuel costs and mileage
  • Perform all safety checks, including pre-trip and post-trip inspection

Operations

  • May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Grade 12 High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous industrial experience, preferably in a Sawmill or Wood Shop considered an asset
  • Experience with transportation, safety and loading/unloading of heavy loads considered an asset

YOUR ASSETS + SKILLS

  • Ability to work as part of a team, to communicate with all levels of the organization and to adapt quickly to change
  • Health & Safety conscious
  • Use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move materials around the production floor
  • Must be willing to work all shifts, including weekends and/or overtime, as required to meet deadlines
  • Solid computer skills an asset
  • Safely operate various types of heavy equipment an asset
  • Must be highly productive, punctual, and reliable
  • Able to work independently with little supervision
  • Experience operating various types of equipment including Truck Pup, Live Bottoms, Hoppers
  • Basic computer skills. Knowledge of the AS400 system or High Jump a Warehouse Management System would be an asset
  • Knowledge of wood / milling industry products is an asset
  • Dependable and reliable. Ability to take ownership and initiative
  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal and communications skills
  • High level of commitment to exceptional customer service
  • Requires a self-motivated team player capable of managing multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Forklift certified or ability to be certified
  • Able to lift a minimum of fifty (50lbs) pounds
